CHICLAYO – KUELAP

DAY 01: Sipan & Royal Tombs of the Lord of Sipan
Reception and Transfer to the hotel.
Transfer to the Huaca Rajada Archaeological Complex Sipan, located in the Southeast of the Department of Lambayeque.
We will start our journey visiting the Royal Cemetery where untouched of the Mochica Culture are located; among them: The Tombs of the Lord of Sipan discovered on June 1987; the Tomb of the Priest discovered in 1988; the Tomb of the Old Lord of Sipan discovered in 1989; the Tomb of the Chief Warrior discovered in 1996 and the Tomb of the Second Chief Warrior discovered in 1998. All of these tombs belong to the Mochica Nobility. Then, we will visit the Site Museum and finally we will walk around the two pyramids made of adobe and carob wood. Here we can appreciate the landscape of the fertile Chancay Valet with its sugar cane plantations. Return to the city of Chiclayo.
Lunch
Visit to the Tombs of the Lord of Sipan Museum, located in the city of Lambayeque. This museum holds the remains of the Lord of Sipan and all archaeological recovered from the
Tombs of Sipan.

DAY 02: Sican National Museum – Tucume
Visit to the National Museum of Sican, located in the City of Ferreñafe, about 25 minutes drive from Chiclayo. At this place are displayed the remains of two tombs of the Sican leaders (Lambayeque Region). They were the top exponents of goldsmith handicraft art in the northern part of Peru. Then, we arrive in Tucume with its mud constructions where we can drink “chicha” (kind of corn beer) and observe quays; we will continue with a ride to the Archaeological Complex of Tucume, the second capital of the Sican or Lambayeque Culture (1000 AD) built with 26 colossal truncated pyramids on an extension of 220 hectares.
Visit to the Site Museum where original archaeological remains are displayed that belonged to the Lambayeque, Chimu and Inca Cultures. By walking around the cornfields and carobs near the Pyramids, we will arrive to the “Los Horcones de Tucume” lodge in order to enjoy a delicious typical food.
At an appropriate time, return to Chiclayo and take the bus to Chachapoyas at 6.00pm.

DAY 03: Chachapoyas – Village of Deads
Arrival in Chachapoyas and transfer to the Vilaya Gran Hotel, breakfast and departure to Lamud, capital of the province of Luya. It is a quiet town surrounded by interesting places to visit, a high rock on the Valley of the Uctubamba River, here tourists will admire sarcophagus and funerary houses, this is why, this village is called The Village of Deads, its tombs seem hanging over a downfall and they are some of the most spectacular archaeological sites in the continent. Here we can appreciate the Uctubamba Canyon.
Lunch box. On the south, is the Farm “El Chillo”, a nice place to have dinner and overnight.

DAY 04: Revash – Museum of Leymebamba
Breakfast and departure toward the South of Chachapoyas, one hour trip, by private car to the Uctubamba Valley, on the shores of the tributary Santo Tomas River, two hour walk to get to Know other way of burying in difficult places such as the “mausoleums”, shelter under the rocks, belonging to the Revash Culture, mini houses built on the eaves of a high rock, with sight to the Valley, one of the most impressing sights and accessible places for visitors. It is an ideal place to take pictures. Lunch box. We continue our trip to Leymebamba, 45 minutes far, and visit to the Museum of “Mallqui Center”, keeping 219 mummies and archaeological remains from the Chachapoyas-Inca period, rescued from the famous “Lake of the Condors” (King Bird), in 1997. Return to Chillo.

DAY 05: Kuelap Fortress
Breakfast
Transfer to the Archaeological Complex of Kuelap, a one hour and a half journey. This is the most impressing tourist place, not only from Chachapoyas but all over the Peruvian north orient. It is located in the district of Tingo, province of Luya, over a rocky crest, at 3000 meters high m.a.s.l., we will explore the ceremonial constructions and aqueducts, enjoying the wonderful sight. Lunch box.
At a scheduled time, transfer to Chachapoyas.
Dinner and lodging in Vilaya Gran Hotel.

DAY 06: CHICLAYO – LIMA
Breakfast
Departure to the city of Chiclayo in bus.
